Shiro’s eyebrows raise. “Oh?” His eyes narrow. “A… boyfriend, then?”
“Uhhhhhhh, hm, yep!” Satoru swallows his awkwardness with a grin. “And! You’re looking at him right now!” Before he can stop himself, he flings a hand out towards the barista still standing by his table. “I, uh, just love—love visiting my, uh, boyfriend here in his, uh, café, you know, it’s just—”

“Ryan,” the kid says out of the blue. “My name’s Ryan.”
Stan glances at him through the mirror. “Nice to meet you, Ryan.” He looks away, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel. He’s not really in a mood to force some small-talk, but the silence otherwise is the unbearable kind. “What’s a kid like you doing all the way out here?”
From the corner of his eyes, Stan sees Ryan’s lips twist into a frown. “A bad breakup,” he mutters, like that explains anything at all. After a pause, he clarifies. “I gave my ex my dad’s van.” He rubs the bridge of his nose under his glasses. “I’m… not really sure why.”
“Uh huh,” Stan drawls. “Bad breakups’ll do that to you.”
“It wouldn’t matter,” Ryan blurts out, “if it was just—if it was just about the stupid van, or the stupid breakup—” He cuts himself off with a frustrated noise. “But it’s not. It’s not just that.”
Stan gets the distinct feeling that he’s opened a can of worms he’s not sure he wanted to open in the first place. “Uh huh,” he says again, hoping that his noncommittal response might get across that he really doesn’t need the kid’s entire sob story.

“You know,” Sherlock says out of the blue on a sunny morning. “Mrs. Hudson used to tell me something funny.”
William hums without looking up from his newspaper to let Sherlock know he’s listening.
“She used to say,” Sherlock continues, “that if I ever found someone who could tolerate my living habits, I should marry them immediately.”
That gives William pause. He looks up from his newspaper.
“Oh?”
“Mhm,” Sherlock hums. “I’d laughed then, but…” He trails off. William desperately wishes Sherlock would turn around from where he continues to wash dishes, because these words—these words—
William is getting ahead of himself. Sherlock is saying these words in jest, of course, but a terrible, terrible urge in William wishes it anything but—if Sherlock would just turn so that William could see his teasing expression for himself, his terrible urge could be tamped down.
Sherlock does not turn.

“No witnesses?” Sherlock finally speaks up.
The man shakes his head fervently. “None at all, sir.”
Sherlock doesn’t bother trying to hide the grin that unfurls across his face. “Brilliant!” he exclaims with a clap of his hands.
Mycroft stares at him.
Sherlock rolls his eyes. “I mean, oh dear, what a tragedy, he shall be dearly missed,” he rattles off the expected condolences. “But also, brilliant!” When Mycroft’s stare doesn’t grow any less cold, Sherlock hurries to explain. “You want me to get married? Fine.” His grin widens. “I’ll get married to whoever can solve Milverton’s murder.”
Mycroft squints at him for a moment, then another, then another, before pinching the bridge of his nose again and sighing.

Summary
“...Liam?”
William cannot tell if it is a wave of relief or fatigue that makes his legs almost falter beneath him, and that he cannot tell the difference is a striking realization upon itself, but he manages to stay standing long enough to meet Sherlock’s wide-eyed gaze.
“What are you…”
“I apologize, Mr. Holmes,” William interrupts quietly, “for intruding, I…” He exhales slowly, but his pain does not leave with his breath. “I did not know where else to go.”
Sherlock’s eyes flicker between William’s obviously pallid countenance, the blood seeping from William’s wound through his hand, and his disheveled clothing. Despite it being quite late at night, there is a clarity in his eyes that makes William almost grateful for his impromptu selection of a haven. Of course, the detective is likely realizing that the man who stands before him is none other than the Lord of Crime, but William hopes Sherlock will have enough decency to tend his wounds before alerting the relevant authorities.

Summary
It only takes Nagi that fraction of a second and the crack of light under the door to look at Reo’s face - the tears, the runny nose, the puffy eyes. In the darkness of the room Reo feels the most exposed he’s ever been, stripped bare before Nagi whose eyes seem to stare right through him into his soul.
Reo turns his back to him, burying his face into the pillow, and wills the earth to swallow him whole.
Nagi’s voice raises with a hint of worry and panic. “You’ve been crying?”
Reo wakes up at 3am in a room with two other people, but he’s never felt so lonely.

Summary
“Yesterday,” Nagi mumbles, the rest of his words dying on his tongue. His head is hidden behind his arms, strategically placed so Reo can’t make out the expression on his face. There’s an added measure of security to his evasion—his phone, brightness turned low, audio cranked high—that makes it impossible for Reo to guess what he wants. He drums his fingers against the table.
“Hm? Speak up, Nagi.”
Nagi shifts in his seat. Then, sighing, he tilts his head over the edge of his phone. “Yesterday,” he tries again, “you fell asleep on the table.”
Reo makes a noise in the back of his throat. The room feels strangely warm all of a sudden. “I was tired after practice,” he lies easily. “You’ve done it plenty of times.”
Dust particles float through the open air, landing in troves between the grooves on Reo’s desk. “Yeah, I do.” Nagi pauses. “But do I say your name when I’m asleep too?”
The first time Reo doesn't get what he wants is when Nagi Seishirou walks away from him during Blue Lock's second selection. He's learned to curb his expectations by now, though.
Really, he has.

Somehow, Kaoru giggled at that, a sound so relieved that Kojiro wondered if it had some truth to it.
“Now get some sleep, I’ll see you in the morning okay?”
“M’kay. Love you.”
Kojiro gaped, Kaoru was already asleep.
Kaoru didn’t need to know he said it back.
Considering the fact that the moment Kaoru woke up he called Kojiro asking for details of his black out, which was apparently the entire night, he would never know he’d said it in the first place.
