Summary
This was the worst part: the loaded silence; the mutual embarrassment; the temptation to break their fragile rules... to count to two. The part where they angled their bodies away from each other and their brains did the complicated work of rationalizing what just happened as "practice", for the sake of their cover. That it all amounted to just one kiss. Their subconsciouses had somehow come together in a conspiracy against their rational minds and seemed hell bent on changing the very definition of the word.

“Yuri Briar,” a gravelly voice says, audibly startled. “What are you doing here?”
“Yuri?” a higher - almost familiar - voice says shrilly. He blinks the spots out of his eyes and is greeted with the altogether unpleasant sight of a grizzled middle-aged man and a young woman, both wearing nondescript black clothes and looking at him in open shock.

"Truth be told I'm feeling a bit off," Loid admitted lightly with a smile. "Nothing too bad, I swear," he continued when Yor looked even more worried. She was watching Loid intensely as if he were about to collapse at any second—it was as charming as it was overkill. "I think I'm going to call into work once Anya heads off to school. Try to sleep it off."
"I can call in too and stay with you," Yor immediately suggested. Which wasn’t odd, in fact Loid had half expected her offer. Yor's need to care for anyone she deems family had been ingrained into her as a child, stemming from a childhood of taking care of her brother. It was natural that the alpha part of her would want to take care of a perceived spouse, especially an omega one.What Loid hadn't expected was that when he went to reply—oh there's no need for that, I'll be fine—what actually came out was, "If you're sure."
Loid's heat makes an unexpected appearance. Yor takes care of him.
