It was the pain shining in Obi-wan’s heartbroken eyes that did it, the way his voice cracked and broke as he told her about the attack on the Jedi temple, at what he’d seen Anakin do.
She slipped out of his arms just before Coruscant’s weather controls dragged dawn across the horizon. He was finally asleep. Deeply enough not to notice the bed’s weight shift. Dressed simply, Padmé pulled a hood over her head and sprinted up the landing ramp of her ship as if her life depended on it.
She was running, she was hiding.
