Well, to be perfectly fair, their encounters with Sampo were always a back-and-forth dance. He left them to fight Gepard only to help them later against Bronya, he left them to fight Svarog only to get Wildfire as reinforcements, he more or less contributed to triggering Caelus’s Stellaron and attack on the Astral Express, but he also saved Himeko, Mr. Yang and Pom-Pom and then performed CPR on Caelus.
He wasn’t entirely bad, but also not completely their ally. He was some chaotic neutral and it made him hard to read. Following this path alongside him was a gamble.
