Summary
The pink-haired girl’s body jerks with every sob, silent tears dripping down her dirtied cheeks and pooling beneath her on the ground. Powder’s gone. She’s gone. They’re all gone.
There are footsteps behind her, the clunk of boots.
Vi snarls, fists raised and body twisting around, lurching forward instinctively. A hand drapes on-top of her head. “I’m not here to hurt you.”
Her body slumps, Vander’s only a few meters away, the remnants of shimmer still spread beneath his skin, his flesh, soon to still into rigidness. A single remaining tear slides across her skin, contrarily human to his, and between her lips, the taste of salt bitter on her tongue.
“I’m going to kill you one day.” She mutters, the heavy weight of water pouring through her lungs in drowning debt to her father.
Silco laughs morbidly. “Oh I don’t doubt that.”

Vi pulls away but the strength is more than either of them were anticipating and she stumbles back several steps, then turns around, not wanting Sevika to see her face. She can’t imagine she’s hiding her emotions very well. “Vander’s dead because of me. Powder…Powder’s dead because of me, Mylo and Claggor are dead and—I was supposed to protect her. All of this was so I could protect her.”

Ekko thinks she’s angry with him. Powder hears it in his pleading, in his crying, in his sleep from where he’s posted at her door. For his sake, she comes out, sits with him in the big room and stares at different cobwebs. But eventually all the space, all the empty space (because there’s no Vi and no Vander and no Claggor and no Mylo and no Vi and no Vi and no Vi—) makes her sick to her stomach and she sprints back inside the room, locking out her best friend in the world. Her last friend in the world.Vander is gone, Silco's taken Vi and Powder and Ekko are alone. As the Undercity changes around them through the years, they find themselves changing with it.
