Amidst the average citizens going about their day, there were those with darker intentions-- well connected and successful in carrying out their seedy business. Yes, the mob scene was alive there, a dark underbelly of cruelness and power struggles. Human and puppet alike.
You wanted nothing to do with any of that. You just wanted to get your feet under you; to become someone your mother, and the people in your hometown, could be proud of.
Too bad you didn't have a choice in the matter.
