“The Fellowship is to set out in December,” Lord Elrond explained, “I require your services as a Messenger to travel with them, until you’ve passed the mountains, or until Gandalf sees fit to release you.”
Panic coiled in Rhosynel’s chest, as two things became apparent. Firstly, that she could easily end up roped into travelling further on the whims of a wizard. And secondly, that if word reached her employer that she point-blank refused Lord Elrond, she’d be kicked from the Messenger services.
In other words, Rhosynel was trapped.*
Working as a messenger Rhosynel is accustomed to travelling the length and breadth of Middle Earth, so carrying a missive to the village of Bree should have been easy. But this simple task sets off a chain of events, entangling her in the lives of strangers and the fate of Middle Earth. And leaves her fighting to keep both them, and herself, alive.

Posting again, as of 9/21/2024
Kara is at the end of her nursing shift when a violent man is brought in. When he spits blood on her in his final moments, Kara is transported elsewhere. Soon she's doing emergency wound care on book characters and trying not to lose it. Even if this isn't real, she can't watch people suffer. And Aragorn is extremely suspicious of a woman who tells no clear story and smells like orc.
::Aragorn was no callow youth to shiver in fear or to indulge dread when duty called him to be bold—but he did not like the dark of Moria. More than one kicked pebble or distant fall of rubble caused his heart to lunge in anticipation of attack. The longer the attack did not come, the more threadbare his patience became. When Legolas twitched, Aragorn’s sword arm tightened. When Gimli stumbled and cursed, Aragorn flinched.::

Summary
"Please Gandalf... please don't tell him." She begged, her voice thick with emotion and unshed tears.
Gandalf met her eyes with as forlorn an expression as she'd ever seen on his face. There was such sadness held there at the answer she knew he had to give.
"It would be a promise I cannot keep." He told her as kindly as he possibly could. "I'd rather not keep a father and his child from each other- a King and his heir even less so."
Billa looked away but didn't flinch when a warm, rough hand touched her shoulder offering comfort. She desperately needed it. She was so frightened.
"Did you love him?" She heard him ask. She clung to the sympathy in his voice and nodded as her eyes brimmed with tears.
"Do you still?"
The answer was barely a whisper- as small and secret as the fluttering heartbeat under her shaking hand.
"Yes."

Summary
