Castiel uses his angel blade to carve out all the fears that have been festering in the back of his mind for years. Purging them from himself is a less than ideal experience, but he can't let the distractions hinder his usefulness, and he'd much prefer to fill his mind with the kind of pain that's been squandered for decades over the fresh, constant plague of a blaze of blue light exploding in a graveyard.
