Summary
In a world where everyone is biologically dominant or submissive, everyone needs to perform their dynamic or they will go insane. Literally. It is unhealthy for submissives not to have a Dominant, and for a Dominant to not have someone to care for. Those unable to date, or still seeking a partner, can come to private therapists or clinics where they can express themselves in a safe and controlled environment. Will Graham - a submissive - is sent for treatment by his boss; Will hasn't had a Dominant in years and his nerves are starting to fray. He doesn't sleep, can't eat well, loses his temper, and is close to losing his mind.
So he goes.

"Are you here alone?" The suite was large, much too large for one person. Will simply undid the button of his suit jacket and observed the impatient control with which he was taking off his shoes and overcoat.
"Yes." His eagerness for him was almost heartbreaking. Almost.
Will goes fishing for men. Hannibal lands the catch, and kills it in front of him. He might be angry enough to kill Will too.

Humans first constructed cities for safety. Forests were cleared, and structures built of stone, clustered tightly together for safety in numbers. The reason for that driving fear behind that impulse is nearly forgotten. What fear would drive humans together so tightly, where the risk of crime or harm from their neighbour was so high? Will knew, and so did others who still dwelled at the edges of civilization, whose homes lingered a little too close to the old places of dark, brush and canopy.

Summary
Will knows he's in for it when he gets home. For a very brief moment, he considers not going home at all. He knows Hannibal is going to be mad. He thinks about telling Hannibal he's working late, or that he decided not to drive home. He'd probably get away with it too, if Hannibal is willing to believe that it's in character for Will to choose not to drive home in the dead of night out of some fear for his safety.
The odds of that aren't high, though. Hannibal knows Will better than anyone, that's one of the things that makes him so damn annoying sometimes.
