    He reached with the invisible force, yanked the boy's arms through the bars, held them steady.
    "This is not permanent," Armand assured him. "These things can be easily reattached, once you earn them. Or, if you remain committed to this attitude, they will eventually regrow."
    "You think he'll forgive this?"
    "Eternity stretches before us," Armand said. With luck, us would not include Nikki.
    He picked up the blade.
