Jayce bites his lip. He feels warm.
Viktor stumbles upon a secret in Jayce's sketchbook—pages filled with sketches of him—and Jayce panics. It doesn't go as expected.

Summary
Jayce blinked once. He blinked again. There was the sun, and clouds, and when Jayce ran his hand over his cheeks, there was barely any stubble.
(Jayce and Viktor find themselves in the past, just a few hours before a group of Undercity kids broke into Jayce's lab and sparked a chain of events that would later end the world. They get a second shot at preventing it, and, maybe, creating something better in its place.)

Summary
It's easy enough for Jayce to buy a proper coffee maker for the lab. He and Viktor work a lot of late nights, after all, and sometimes they need a pick me up. It's easy enough for him to rationalize it as a gesture of friendship.
He can't really explain the blankets, though. Or the chocolate bars. Or the snacks. Or that time he offered a leg massage.
(Jayce is legendarily down bad for Viktor. This manifests in him making the lab as sort of a second home. Thankfully, Viktor notices.)

Summary
It is difficult to understand a person like Viktor. He is the smartest person Jayce knows, that's for certain, but it's difficult to say anything for certain beyond that. He's proud of his work, but he outright rejects any opportunities to brag about his work at galas. He's cold and sharp when he interacts with people, but he makes time to think about every child in the Undercity. He's mesmerizing, but he's also the guy who will whack Jayce in the shins if Jayce makes one more wrong remark about an equation. Jayce can't help but fall for him.
(A collection of moments where Jayce learned more about Viktor as a person. It is hard not to observe someone as unique as Viktor; it is harder not to fall in love with him.)

When Mel Medarda realizes that she's completely ignored Viktor's potential as a scientist, as an academic, she quickly seeks to remedy that. He may not be Jayce Talis, but he has his own brain, and he seems to be far more useful than most think. She's a practical woman, after all- it would be useful to have another genius on her side.
And when she realizes Viktor is also in love with Jayce Talis, and Jayce loves them both? She's still practical, after all-- she sees an opportunity.
(Or, Mel and Viktor are more similar than one might think. That applies to who they love, but it applies to how they love too.)
