Darry’s eyebrows shoot up high on his face, but he cracks a bit of a frisky smirk anyway. “I kind of figured.”
Paul’s chewing on his bottom lip and he can’t quite seem to meet Darry’s eyes. Darry takes a step forward, bringing a hesitant hand up to Paul’s waist underneath the black gown that’s hanging off Paul’s shoulders. His fingertips just manage to find their way right beneath Paul’s ribs, and he begins to press them down into the cloth, sheepish and ghostly. It feels like home.
Except Paul takes a step back.

Sydney heaves in a deep breath and looks down before speaking. "I know this can, like, ruin basically everything and I just wanna apologize in advance but also I don"t wanna like, die before telling you this and wow, saying that out loud actually sounded really dramatic but I just wanted to say that I really like you? Romantically?"
For an agonizing amount of time, Carmen says nothing. Sydney adamantly refuses to look at his face, lest she very embarrassingly bursts into tears. She waits with bated breath, clenching her hands into fists.
Then Carmen shuffles and says with a detached tone, "Heard, chef."
And Sydney"s heart comes crashing down.
Sydney confesses to Carmen. It goes terribly before it gets a lot better.
