Summary
Stiles left the pack in Junior year of College, after he and Derek had a falling out over a MOTW that tied back to the Nemeton, and with the end of his romantic relationship with the Alpha, he thought it best to leave the pack rather than torch the dynamic of it all. (They worked really hard to be stable, Stiles knew that better than anybody). His best friend from Stanford, Jules, doesn't know about his supernatural past (just his erratic behavior an schedule for the first few years of school, then a depressive episode and ensuing "Slut Era"). Jules gets a crash course when Stiles is threatened by a local Alpha and, because Werewolf Politics, he has to go home to handle it, she comes along for the ride and solves more than a few issues for him while they're back in the Beacon Hellmouth.

If Nick had someone to confide in from the very beginning of 'Heartstopper'. Having that support system to discover your sexuality, so you can ask questions, and find validation, and talk about your worries to is so important. Nick has to learn the difference between his platonic and romantic feelings all on his own, and his pain in the show derives so much from him feeling alone and lost in who he is and who he wants to be, and I don't want to change how the show went because seeing that on-screen was so important for me and many others, but I will not hesitate to protect Nick at all costs in fic, because he needs it and I want to do it.
