Madara finally admits to himself that he might have a tiny, insignificant, definitely fleeting (if months-long already) crush on Tobirama.
Tobirama’s genius brain apparently lacks the capacity to realize his own very obvious crush on Madara until Izuna graciously points it out.
They both need a miracle to stop seeing their mutual shows of affection as patronizing and actually realize that their feelings aren’t as unrequited as they think.

Day 1:
Folklore, Fantasy, and Myth// Time TravelFinding out that the Eye of the Moon plan had been a gigantic lie and that he’d been manipulated for years and driven to madness because of some sentient plant serving a moon goddess had been a slap to the face. Kami, what an idiot he’d been.
But when Madara opened his eyes again, somehow alive, only to find that he was back in the Warring Clans Era, that Izuna was still alive—it was a second chance to make things right.
Of course, it probably would have been easier if Tobirama hadn’t also, somehow, managed to end up in the past with him. (But then again, maybe not.)

"Maybe a marriage would be the way to go," Madara says eventually, half out of exasperation but also half because it wasn't actually a bad idea. Except for all the ways in which it was terrible.
"But not," Izuna says with a wrinkle of his nose, "with Hashirama."
"No," Madara says, holding back a laugh at Izuna's expense out of politeness even though Izuna will feel the full brunt of how funny Madara thinks the idea is. "There are, however, other Senju."
