The first time Imogen told Laudna about the storm it was, appropriately, storming.
Laudna’s eyes had been swallowed by a blackness darker than that of the night surrounding them, catching and reflecting even the most minuscule scatterings of light in a way that made her gaze look full with shooting stars. She had taken her leather-shielded hand to hold in both of hers as she listened. It was the first time she could remember someone taking her hand simply to hold.
She said, here is what she knows of the storm: it is unrelenting, it is violent, it is hers.
In the time that has passed since that night the same things that have changed about the storm have changed for her and Laudna—which is to say, nothing at all.

Summary
Imogen is fine being single. Seriously, she is. Why does she even need to think about that right now?
She’s barely settled in her new place, even if it has been a couple years already. In reality, she’s not really sure if she could handle any more change without flying off the handle and committing some kind of social felony.
So, when the only mother figure she’s ever had, Deanna, brings up the prospect of her lovelife, it’s a safe bet to say that she panics.

Imogen makes up her mind, then, because fuck it—they’re in this gorgeous room tonight, and the whole world might end, and she’s sick and tired of Delilah Briarwood’s bullshit. “I wanna see you,” she says calmly, dancing her fingertips along Laudna’s cheekbone. “All of you. Every inch. And I know for a fact that if I do, I’m not gonna find that bitch anywhere.”
Laudna’s pupils visibly dilate as she processes each individual statement, then the tip of her tongue peeks out to wet her lips. “I’ve always enjoyed a good game of hide and seek,” she husks as her hands come to Imogen’s hips.
“Well,” Imogen says, kissing Laudna for a few long beats, then sits up with a knee planted on either side, “in that case.” She uses both hands to open the top button of Laudna’s shirt. “One.” Imogen pops the next button. “Two.”

Imogen and Laudna hadn't had much time to themselves since the kiss, and they just wanted some time to figure it all out. By "figure it all out" they meant "kiss a whole bunch", and they loved their friends - they did - but these interruptions were getting a little ridiculous.
