Summary
In a world without monsters, without Demodogs and Vecna, they found their way to each other in different ways. Steve was destined to be someone who cared about the Party. The Party weaseled their way into his heart, and into his car at every chance they got.
Steve, Nancy and Jonathan became the young adults the friend group needed. Year by year, their group expanded. By the time Steve graduated, Robin, Gareth, Eddie, Chrissy and Argyle had joined their little family. Each person paired up until just Eddie and Steve were the singles.
Everyone begged for Steve and Eddie to hook up. Little know, they did. It was casual, they told each other.
Then, Corroded Coffin was offered a tour with a big named band, though out the Midwest and down the east coast. Steve was happy for them.
At the end of the tour, Gareth came back...Eddie didn't.
Three months later, Steve gave birth to his son and life went on.
Nine years later, Eddie's back in town and boy, does life in Hawkins seem so different from the life he left.

Steve has never won a fight. He’s had his ass kicked left, right, and center. Hell, Johnathan has kicked his ass. Steve can bat a monster, but when it comes to people? Steve Harrington has never really won a fight.
But that’s because he’s getting put in the wrong kinds of fights. They think he’s a hammer, when really, anyone who grew up BFFs with Carol becomes a scalpel.
(Dustin gapes like a fish. “Holy shit, dude…” Steve would chide language if he thought it would do anything. “You just performed real life Vicious Mockery. I think that guy took psychic damage!”)

Only, nerd shit cost *real* shit, and the Hellfire Club is forced to reckon with raising funds for their dreams in a more legal and balefully pedestrian way: a bake sale.
Eddie’s already put his blood, swear, and tears into the club, what’s a little dignity for the greater good?
(His dignity goes fully out the window when Steve Harrington shows up in a much too tight Hellfire shirt.)
