Tom shoves his hands in his pockets in a futile attempt to keep his fingers from going numb. “Tell me what, Greg,” he says, no question mark, no patience. “Tell me fucking what.”
“It… sort of seems like you might know already?” says Greg.
Tom smiles, pleasantly. “No idea. Tell me what?”

Aziraphale trundles out back with a pastry-laden plate in one hand and a monstrously large novel in the other. The sun warms the back of his neck; he lifts one arm to shield his eyes as he squints at the brightness of the great outdoors. “How are the plants?” he asks.
Crowley’s sweating profusely. He takes Aziraphale’s appearance as an excuse to sit back on his heels and wipe his brow with the back of one gloved hand. It leaves a smear of dirt across his forehead, but Aziraphale doesn’t tell him. It’s sort of charming, he thinks.
“The plants,” says Crowley, with a very sweet scowl, “are exactly as they ought to be, because they know better than to be otherwise.”
