Summary
This story takes place a few months after 2.06 “Fireworks” so mind the spoilers.
Following a tragedy that leaves Dale spiralling even more out of control, Helen flies back home. Because despite the mess they’ve become, they will always be that person for one another.
At least, it remains true as far as she’s concerned.
Loyal to a fault.

Summary
* Chapter 10 added on April 10th 2024 *
...An early season 2 P/O AU in which Peter and Olivia cross ‘that line’ a bit sooner than they do on the show. Goes (slightly) off canon after 2x05 Dream Logic. This is a slow burn, but with smooches. Follows most of season 2's storyline, although it starts deviating as their relationship changes.
...
"Right now, Olivia only has herself to blame for nearly breaking in front of him yesterday, back in Seattle. Her grief had just…sneaked up on her, barely able to flee the room fast enough. Too little, too late. Peter had seen the cracks in her walls, which even now don’t feel all that sturdy.
Peter being Peter, he’s come to make sure she wouldn’t get crushed underneath the rubble, were it to collapse on top of her.
The least she can do is show him that she’s fine. Which she arguably could have done without letting him inside her home, but Olivia’s not infallible either.
He’d brought her whiskey."

Summary
Another exploration of Helen and Dale's early days as a couple, this one focused on the events of 1x03 "The White Marquis Matinee Jacket", all from Dale's POV. Soft creative dates with artificial flowers, followed by more...exploring in Helen's bedroom. First part is smut-free.
....
"How long till Helen Norville comes to her senses and realises she’s way out of his league, that she can do so much better than this awkward, nerdy producer from work—who not only tends to ramble, get twitchy, and a bit nauseous, he also has this unfortunate propensity for being obtuse at times.
People aren’t his forte, and neither are relationships—ever."

Summary
...
An exploration of Helen's thoughts and rather intense emotions throughout 1x02 "Once in a Lifetime". Episode 'novelization'.
...
"Helen has always been feisty, but she’s also always been equally messed up, fighting and fighting until those moments when she can’t fight anymore. That’s when men like Lindsay strike—and she knows it, too. Yet she lets it happen, over and over again.
Because in those moments, when she’s drowning and frightened and losing her grip on her sanity, there is no room for rationality, not even for survival instinct, except a most basic need to breathe. In those moments, she can no longer fight for herself.
So how could she possibly fight off other people?"

Summary
...
What would have happened if Joel was the one bitten at the museum? This is an exploration of TLOU, with Tess taking Ellie across country in search of the Fireflies—and maybe some hope.
...
"If Ellie chooses to be cruel and say those things, she could at least decide when Tess gives up on her, like it’s bound to happen anyway.
But no word comes out of her mouth.
Because above all else, she’s pathetic, and embarrassingly dependent on whatever it is she feels when she’s with Tess like this, even if it’s all in her head, even if they’re on a ticking clock.
She doesn’t want to hurt Tess.
She wants to crawl in her arms and scream, or cry, or maybe both."

Summary
Companion piece to Etta's Sunrise by lostgirlslikeus. Olivia takes care of baby Etta in the morning, from Peter's POV.
"He’s spent so much time doing it, lately, watching Olivia being a mom, that he envisions it all as if he were standing right there with them. Olivia’s fingers caressing Etta’s hair as she nurses, often tracing the shape of her ear with her thumb just because she can.
Olivia holding her baby close afterward, lips brushing that same ear, whispering I love you I love you I love you just because she can, only stopping to gently nuzzle the side of her head, breathing in her scent."

...
Direct follow up to 1x06 "Meltdown". A few hours after the end of the episode, Helen and Dale talk, and try to figure out what to do.
...
"By the time he made it to her place, thirty minutes after her as promised, she’d already downed a couple of heavy-handed glasses, along with a couple of pills, finding her half-passed out on her couch, her sleep-deprived metabolism no match for what she’d put in her system.
He’d helped her into bed, fully clothed, only removing her earrings and her watch, like he had a few times before. He could have gone the moment she crashed; he didn’t.
He’s still here, hours later, their relentless thoughts slowly filling up the room with a heavy kind of tension, until it’s smothering her more tightly than her stupid jacket."

Summary
...
In the aftermath of Bell taking over her body, Olivia struggles to reconnect with herself. Peter helps.
...
"She may not be an empty vessel either, she sure isn’t just herself anymore, hasn’t been for a long time. John, Nick, that other her, Bell…they have all left their mark on her, no matter how short the invasion, little bits of themselves crowding her mind, crawling under her skin. Changing her DNA, too.
That’s something else she’s been thinking about. DNA. Cells. The kinds that make up every living thing—her included.
Whenever she showers and she rubs at her skin, she pictures those epithelial cells coming off and going down the drain with the suds, reminding herself of the endless cycle of dying cells and cells reborn; that eventually, there won’t be any cell left that Bell would have touched.
No wonder her own consciousness nearly fled at this latest assault.
It is back and in full control, has been for a few days, as if never interrupted, nor forced to retreat in the deepest parts of herself. And yet, there is a disconnect.
A numbness of sorts, a queasy confusion. She looks at her hands, and she wonders what they were used for while she hid."

Summary
This is a direct follow-up to 3x14 '6B', following Peter and Olivia up those stairs. E is for emotional soft smut because this is how I roll.
..."Of course she’d known he would glimmer, tonight of all nights.
It’s not constant either, and not as overwhelming as it was the first time she saw it, or recently in that bar, as if accepting the idea that it would happen almost allowed her to control it.
Almost.
When Peter opens the door, it flickers at the edge of his skin like specks of light instead of that overexposed, pulsing layer she’s seen before. The sight is so curious yet soft, fitting even, given the way her heart squeezes with the sweetest of aches at the look in his eyes, that it soothes some of her nerves.
She’s crossed universes to get this man back to her world; those flickers are proof that he is here.
Hers."

*FINAL CHAPTER (13) added June 23rd 2023*
~~~
“To say you've experienced a trauma is an understatement. You need to process what you’ve endured over the past two months.” Post Marionette story, in which Olivia’s trauma from her time Over There is actually addressed. P/O.
~~~
"She was replaced instead. She was replaced by a version of herself that was less…broken.
Less intense, maybe.
And there lies the problem. Olivia cannot compete with that. Peter may have come back when she asked him to, the woman he then spent the next eight weeks with was happier, quicker with a smile.
This thought swirls in her head and squeezes her heart every time she inadvertently shows him just how damaged she's become, the way she did today in that elevator. It makes it impossible for her to accept any kind of comfort from him, too afraid of the pity she will find in his eyes, because it would confirm what she suspects, what she already knows: that she is, indeed, the lesser version. The one that was left in the dark.
She's still in there, now; frozen to the bone."

Summary
"Olivia fears for her son more than she has ever feared for anyone else. She supposes it comes with loving him more than she has ever loved anyone else.
She thought she knew about love, a few months ago. All of her assumptions have been shaken, broken, reshaped, leaving her feeling raw and exposed.
She’d always loved others in a way that had been quite selfish, and she has no shame in admitting it. Loving others had brought something to her life. Some excitement, some warmth, a sense of stability. She cared deeply for people, and wanted to protect them, but in the end, she was also playing to win.
The love she feels for her son is terrifying, because it’s a selfless kind of love.
She fears for him, every second of every day. She fears for what has been, for what could have happened, and for what will happen to him in this crumbling world."

"He's not cradling her bump tonight, nor has he pressed his lips to her tense skin to murmur words she cannot hear, only feel.
He’s using one finger on her, the tip of it gently tracing patterns on the curve of her stomach. At first, she wonders if he’s spelling letters, trying out the few names they’re considering for her, but Rose quickly dismisses the idea, not recognizing any letter—nothing English. What he’s drawing isn’t random, though.
There is intent in the way his fingertip slowly moves upon her."
