Summary
Dumbledore’s intervention in the battle at the Ministry does not go as planned. The ceiling collapses and Harry has to make a split second decision to leap for safety. Dumbledore is too far away, and more rubble is falling on his side, so Harry goes the other way. Towards Voldemort. In the moment before everything comes crashing down, Voldemort looks as surprised by this as Harry himself.
Then, the marble ceiling falls and, once the dust clears, Voldemort sees the “Savior” wasn’t able to jump far enough.
