*”Well, someone had to force you two on a date…”
“A date?? With me and your dad??” Buck squeaked. Chris was getting this all confused with something else. It wasn’t a date, was it??
“You weren’t going to do it, so I had to do it myself.” He sighed. “Now you can stay with him all night.“
“You want me and your dad to go on a date?” Buck breathed again, his head struggling to process it all. It just wasn’t sinking in.
“This was a date silly?” Chris scoffed with an incredulous look on his face, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “It still is-“ Chris affirmed, looking so pleased with himself. “Because you’ve got to go down and tell Dad how you feel. You love him don’t you?”
“No, not like the way Hen or Chimney loves Dad.” He cut in with another eye roll. “Do you love him love him, like are you into my Dad?”
God, he was getting advice about his love life from a thirteen year old right now. And what made it even more ridiculous was he knew Chris was right, of course he loved Eddie, he‘d always been in love with him.
OR
Chris wittingly plants the idea of a s’mores and hot cocoa by the fire in Eddie’s head for Buck. It’s not a date, right?

Summary
Eddie Diaz would like to say that the 118 needs a more involved HR department, or maybe he just needs friends who do less meddling
_____
"Eddie," Buck says seriously, once he's done hiccuping through his giggles, one stray hand resting on Eddie's knee, "I hate to break this to you, but you have a son. That can't be true."
"Exactly!" Hen's own drink sloshes dangerously towards the rim as she pointed it at Eddie. "If you couldn't have sex, then you wouldn't have a kid." She gasps. "Wait, you're from Texas! Maybe you don't know that!"
"It's a serious problem," Chimney confirms solemnly. "Poor little kids from Texas, all thinking that babies come from storks."
