Summary
The 1970s, twenty years after the rebuilding of Toreguard, semi-retired Sergeant Elowyn O'Toreguarde is called in for a new case - the murder of her childhood best friend, Evelyn Strucker.
When the King of estranged Iceland turns up for an unexpected visit, the Triumvirate Council force O'Toreguarde to play tour guide, passing the murder case to her subordinates. Story written for Me&Thee Secret Santa, 2008, as a gift to Susan. In fanfics, I've sometimes seen Hutch likened to a Viking, so I thought, why not Hutch as a real Viking? And for a Secret Santa, it was obvious that the story should be about the midwinter celebration, Yule. This is a mood-piece, a little slice-of-life, as things almost could have been, at the west coast of Jylland, at Midwinter, 954.
