Buck crept forward, glancing behind him once as if to check that May was following. He got to the table and paused, clearly unsure where to sit. Athena was about to speak up when May announced imperiously, “You have to sit next to me. I’m your most favorite sibling so you have to.”
“What about Harry?” Buck laughed, settling in next to May anyway.
“He’s a baby, he doesn’t count,” May dismissed.
Buck snorted, “How about this, you’ll be my favorite sister?”

Summary
Buck didn’t mean to fall in with the wrong crowd. If you’d asked him before, he would have said he didn’t know how to find the wrong crowd. But the streets were cold and lonely and sometimes Buck thought he would have been better off staying with his parents – at least until he turned 18. He never thought that for long; all it took was the memory of a fist colliding with his cheek, glancing off his nose, to remind him that he was right to leave. But being right to leave didn’t help with being cold and lonely.
His friends helped, though.
Or: Buck finds the wrong sort of people until he finds himself in LA, being arrested by Sergeant Athena Grant.

When Fury told him where Mysterio (never Quentin Beck, not anymore) was being held, Peter had a single, momentary urge to go see him.
How crazy was that? There was no way he would go see Mysterio. The man deserved to never see anyone ever again. He was an awful person. Peter wasn’t going to give him the chance to manipulate him again. Peter was better than that now, less gullible, less trusting. He would never ever give Mysterio the chance to hurt him or the people he loved. Never.
By the end of the month, Peter had set up weekly meetings with the man.

Summary
It had been a long week. First, the monthly peak lord meeting had gone as well as Shen Qingqiu could have expected, with Liu Qingge accusing him of one offense or another and half his martial siblings joining in to condemn him. After that, he was sent to supervise a night-hunt of the junior disciples, which also went as well as Shen Qingqiu expected. He loathed children; they were a bunch of incompetent brats who couldn’t survive even a moment alone on the streets—they all but walked into the beast’s awaiting maw.
Shen Qingqiu didn’t bother returning to the mountain for longer than it took to return the carriage and horses and freshen up before heading back down, toward the one place he was always welcomed: The Warm Red Pavilion.
At least, normally he was welcomed with no obstacles. This time, however…
“No men are allowed on this floor!”
There was a toddler in the brothel, a young boy barely coming to Shen Qingqiu’s hip as he stood before the peak lord, a serious expression on his face as he blocked his path.
Shen Qingqiu would have ignored the small menace, but he was so surprised by his presence that his step faltered, and he stared down at the child, confused.
That was certainly… new.

Shen Qingqiu frowned. He opened his mouth to question the damn-near imploring words, but he never got the chance.
He failed to notice something was in Luo Binghe’s hands until it was too late.
