Summary
"When he notices the tears cascading down her cheeks, he allows himself to half-believe that they’re tears of joy. When the first words out of her mouth are “we need to talk”, he allows himself to half-hope that she only thinks it’s too soon, that she still has so much to do before she can settle down and start a family with him.
When he finally gets to look into her eyes, he accepts what he knows to be true, because during the small things that kept getting bigger and bigger, he had noticed something else. Had noticed the way she still watched, the way she kept staring, the way she continued to glow and emit the same warmth through her eyes that she used to give him.
He had noticed that those things didn’t disappear; she still glows, just not around him."

Summary
And that’s how Hermione learned about soulmates, between rapidly cooling tea she’d let steep too long and Ron’s forlorn sighs.
She immediately dismissed it as divination nonsense. It wasn’t like it was ever going to affect her.
Severus doesn"t spend too much thought on soulmates. It rains in Scotland, people are a pain in his arse, and some of them have soulmates.
It’s not like it is ever going to affect him.
Sometimes, even the smartest people we know can be very wrong.

Summary
Dumbledore had told Severus Snape and Hermione Granger that getting married would help them share vital information as the Potions Master continued to play the villain and consummate spy and the Brightest Witch of Her Age hunted Horcruxes with her friends. What the old bugger didn’t tell them was that if they both survived the war it would take a year-and-a-day to divorce and that they would have to live together for the duration – without killing each other. It would go down in the annals of wizarding history as either one of the wisest things the headmaster ever did . . . or one of the very worst. Only a year-and-a-day would reveal which one it was.
