Pre season 8
Since Christopher left, Eddie and Buck's friendship hit a rough patch. Things boiled over during a rescue, leading to a heated argument. Both grappling with deeper emotions they've yet to confront
"Do you know that my mom asked me if we were together?”
He didn’t even wait for a response, his eyes immediately searching Buck’s face.
“What?” Buck asked, clearly caught off guard. Eddie's mom, of all people, had noticed something between them? That was... unexpected. He hadn’t even realized how much of his feelings he’d let slip, but now it felt like maybe he'd been fooling himself all along. If she’d noticed, then maybe Buck hadn’t been as successful at hiding his feelings as he thought. Maybe Eddie had picked up on more than he was letting on. And if Eddie knew, and hadn’t said anything? That had to mean something, right?
“When I told them about the will…” He paused, "She asked if something was going on between you and me." Eddie’s voice was hesitant.
“What did you say?” Buck asked
“I said that you love Chris, and I knew you’d be there for him” Eddie replied. “And that’s true. But… it’s not the whole truth".

Summary
They walk into the bunk room to find everyone else dead asleep. They take their usual bunks, right next to each other.
Buck’s grateful to lay down, and he really wants to go to sleep, but for some reason, it eludes him. Instead, he watches the gentle rise and fall of Eddie’s chest.
He realizes he misses the feeling of Eddie’s arms around him. Oh no, he thinks, I’m absolutely fucked.
OR
Buck and Eddie sort of accidentally become partners in more ways than one.

Summary
Evan Buckley was out, and proud. He has his first boyfriend, Tommy Kinard. He couldn’t have been more happy. Or at least, that should’ve been the case.
Eddie Diaz has always been able to read his best friend like an open book. Not that Buck made it obvious; Eddie just knew him on a level no one else understood. So when Buck starts changing after getting together with Tommy, Eddie is immediately suspicious. But no one else seems to notice; so what if he’s just making it all up? Maybe he was. or maybe, he just wanted Buck for himself.
But Eddie swears that there is definitely something wrong there.
And he is determined to find out what it is.

Summary
After Buck was crushed by a fire truck, he spent most of his time at home, within four walls. When his sister advised him to go out and relax a little, literally pushing him out of the apartment, Buck decided to go to the pier. There he saw a boy who was all alone, and then, behind the child, a huge wave. Buck ran up and grabbed the child, trying to get as far away from the pier as possible. After that, there was only water.

Buck saves a child during a tsunami, but can you call it salvation if the boy doesn’t remember who he is, who his parents are or where he lives. Couple of mounts later Buck meets a new firefighter, Eddie Diaz, unaware that Eddie's missing son is in his apartment
