“I figured prisoner was the better word for it,” Vi mutters.
“Prisoner, yes. But, unbeknownst to the Council, you are the daughter of a leader in the Undercity. This goes beyond just you.”

Vi succeeds in turning herself in to Sheriff Grayson. The Council decides that, instead of sending her to Stillwater, the young trencher should be reformed as a ward of House Kiramman.

Summary
A few years into Vi's stay at Stillwater, new inmates stop showing up. What little information the inmates can get from the guards seems to suggest that something happened topside; the word reform would get thrown around a lot. Vi decided that it was hopeful conjecture from sad fucks who knew they’d never get out.
One night, though, Vi does get out of Stillwater. And the only thing she has on her mind is getting back to her family.

It’s been half a year now since his marriage to Mel fell apart and Jayce became a stay-at-home dad. A little less than that, since he offered Viktor the empty guest room, just to make juggling work and child-rearing overall easier.
It’s a question of convenience, really. Jayce gets to take care of his daughter, but he also has someone to watch her when he needs to run errands, to play with her next door while Jayce is in a conference call with their sponsors.
And if Mae gets a little confused about how many daddies she has… or if Jayce is in denial about what kind of partner he wants Viktor to be… Well. They’re going to figure it out eventually.
