He only started to find out after he started dating him two months into the death, mourning over his
Dead friend,Deciding to do what Roach had advised him to do, before he went on his last mission:
to confess his feelings toward the skull
faced man and ask him out.But now, the Scot was slowly falling out of love; being treated like a "second pick" or a "Replacement". His feelings being ignored and he was treated like a distraction from the pain of loosing an unrequited love.
That was the Ghosts first, and biggest mistake.
Taking John "Soap" MacTavish as granted, and a fool.
And if you knew anything about the demolitions expert; it was as to how clever he actually was.

Summary
John MacTavish was a man who didn't have any interest in relationships, believe it or not. Even if the man seemed to be the type to easily get along with people- which he did- he didn't find it necessary to be in a relationship with anyone. There was nobody who peeked his interest enough for him to care.
Especially when he had decided to just focus on his job- having joined the army while lying about his own age just to be able to join as quickly as possible.
However, after having met the tall, deadly, skull faced man- he had gained an interest which he wasn't able to explain. Something was different about him; and not in the way you would guess at first.
Not because the brit was scary and always hid his face.
Not because he was cold and calculating.There was more to him than that... something the young man wanted to figure out and solve.
And he was trying his best to keep that feeling at bay- lock it deeply into his heart; the source of the want to figure that man out.
But that proved to be more difficult than he first anticipated.
