There is something that makes Cullen special. Cole isn't sure what but, between the way Cullen is haunted by his past and the way he always puts others before himself, the two have a lot in common.
If only Cole could find a way to get Cullen to like him back, then maybe he would see it too.
Alternative description: How does a Fade Spirit with the face of a hedge mage court a former templar turned military commander heavy with the weight of the world? Very poorly as it turns out. Cole, sweetheart though he is, is skilled at soothing the pain of others, not acting on feelings of his own.
