“Oh,” Merrill says, pleased. “That’s good, because I don’t think Hawke--” she moves her finger, and Anders goes taut in a new way--”would have any idea how to do this.”

She caught the way the woman’s shadow blurred when Leliana glanced aside, the way Morrigan’s dark hair shimmered as if reflecting an otherworldly sun. Morrigan was a shapeshifter, true, but there were times she walked as if the shape of her own limbs was a comfortable pair of shoes, to be discarded at will. As if gravity itself were newly-made, a passing trend of which she remained skeptical.
