Angel freezes. He feels his blood run cold, feels the wave of despair rise up within him, and isn’t quick enough to keep it from bleeding out onto his expression. He tries looking down at the table in a desperate attempt at damage control, but he immediately knows that it’s too little, too late.
“Oh, fuck,” Denji breathes. “What did he do?”

Loneliness that stems from his sobriety of the human race, that rises even when he is surrounded by people. It’s from this loneliness that he feels what he feels like how Mitsuri described: feeling comforted by the presence of others, their voices, their faces, but ultimately never crossing the step to let them in due to the lengths he keeps them back. He’s lonely with them, and with himself.
Though, Obanai wasn’t lonely with her.
