Summary
If Buck could go back to all those weeks ago and tell himself that this idea would place at the top of the list of his monumentally stupid ideas, he would do it in a heartbeat. He would knock some sense into his own head, or let Maddie do it for him.
But here he is now, and a time machine, unfortunately, hasn’t been invented yet.
Here he is now, with Eddie boring into his eyes after that. After realizing he’s been caught red-handed. Except, the implication Eddie’s just made means he’s been sitting on this. And, holy hell.
Eddie breathes out, his chest puffing out noticeably.
“Not so quick to answer when the tables are turned, are you?”

"It's just such a blessing," Margaret agreed to something Maddie must've said - something that Buck missed. "At first we thought we'd never become grandparents and now at least one of our children is giving us not just one but two!"
Buck froze in his seat.
The rest of the table did too.
Everyone but Margaret and Phillip Buckley.
Buck didn't even notice the stronger hold on his hand before Eddie spoke up, almost snapping, "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

“Buck lifts Jee up onto Santa’s lap and he asks her what she wants for Christmas. She whispers something to him.
“Why don’t you speak up a little, sweetie,” a bubbly blonde elf says from Eddie’s left. “I’m sure your dads would love to hear it!”
It takes Eddie a moment to process what she’s said.”
Another Christmas, another elf thinking Buck and Eddie are gay dads. This may or may not awaken something in Eddie.

“Let me come with you,” Buck says, practically begging. “Look, I know it’s your son and your truck and your crazy plan, but it’s Christmas, and maybe it’s insane, but I’d rather be with you getting a neck cramp from sleeping in your passenger seat than on my couch alone or begging Maddie to let me sit in on her and Chimney’s plans. And then I can play my road trip playlist and find all the cheapest gas stations and make sure you don’t cost yourself two-hundred bucks by speeding on the I-10, and…it’ll be fun. I promise. Just—” Buck bites his lip and softens his voice. “Just let me come.”
Eddie just raises an eyebrow at him and motions to the passenger seat. “Well,” he says, “you better get in.”
or, christopher has a request: to be back in LA in time for christmas. eddie drives sixteen-hundred miles to make it happen (and of course, buck comes along too).
