Summary
Robin is drunk and not for the first time wishes she could fall in love with Steve Harrington. Wishes she was 'normal'.
It’s dumb, really dumb, that she still wants to crow to the whole of Hawkins High that she knows what Steve looks like in the morning, in his boxers, coming out of the shower. She still wants to be normal, and it stings sometimes so harshly she thinks she might cry, that she’s never going to swoon over Steve’s arms or his stupid hair.

Summary
Eddie Munson was practically raised by the concept of harsh realities, and he’s learned not to want things that he’ll never have, which isn’t as much as a bummer as it could be, because making the most out of what you’ve got is just as good.
Steve Harrington, despite his reputation as a casual flirt and a serial dater, has a bad habit of falling hard and fast and never really recovering. Steve Harrington, despite his reputation as a bit oblivious, and a ladies man, figured some stuff out about himself four years ago and promptly squashed all those feelings into a box he never intended to see the light of day.
In which Will coming out forces Steve to be open about some things (because Steve’s issues will always take a backseat to making sure the kids feel safe). And Steve doesn’t mean for Eddie to find out, but he does, and it turns into a bonding experience. (And it’s the best and the worst, because having him as a friend is more than Steve ever could’ve hoped for, but it also feels a little like dying.)

Bookmarker's Notes
A story of Steve acutally struggling with his sexuality (or rather his self worth as a whole) rather than breezing past it. It fits the character, even if it's a bit much at times.
In general it's not a stream lined story, which is good and bad at the same time. The world is fleshed out with plenty of ocs that mostly help sell the world, but sometimes take up too much space. The extended passage of time threw me off, but it also made space for some of the loveliest scenes and a slow unfolding.
Max, El, will, Steve and Eddie making up dialogue for cheesy telenovellas and crashing in Steve's parents bed might me my favourite scene ever. Also the little glimpse of Steve and his mom worked devastatingly well and wills crush was so relatable and well done. -

Summary
“You’re talking out of your ass, Harrington. You have no basis for comparison whatsoever.” He’s perched on the edge of the couch cushion, leaning forward so he can more effectively yell at Steve, who’s sprawled out on his elbows on the floor.
“I have a dick, don’t I?” Steve snaps back. Eddie thanks his personal pantheon of indifferent gods that his face is already pink with annoyance, so he doesn’t humiliate himself by blushing over nothing more than an oblique reference to Steve Harrington’s dick.
“Just because you have one doesn’t mean–”
"You're the one who has no basis for comparison! I at least have some kind of experience with blow jobs. Lots of experience, in fact."
"Yes, we all know you're a huge slut, Steve," Eddie says. "No need to brag."
Every time Steve comes over to Eddie's to smoke up, they end up in some kind of stupid argument. Usually it's about music, or movies, or whether Dustin should ever be allowed to have a pet again. But tonight, somehow–Eddie can't remember exactly how it got started, but he definitely blames Steve–they're in each other's faces about which of them gives better head.

He’s pretty sure that’s when he reaches his breaking point. Everything that’s happened in the past however many days rushed into his brain like a shock of electricity. He feels his breath get shakier as he lowers himself down.
A hand cards through the profoundly greasy hair and pulls him in. He’s a little lost in thought as this happens so he just goes with it. He feels a bit weightless, as though he’s in the bathtub, sight, sound, touch, taste, smell, all slightly out of reach. It’s a freefall.
He’s falling.
God knows when he’ll fucking land.

Summary
“Sorry,” Steve says. “I’m sorry, I know this doesn’t make any sense to you, but can I just–”
Eddie lets him approach, this time. Lets him reach out to touch, to curl his fingers in the hem of Eddie’s shirt.
“Sorry, I know I probably sound crazy, I just––” he pulls it up, stares at Eddie’s side, and then lets out a hysterical little noise that sounds like a cross between a laugh and a sob.
“You’re ok,” Steve says.
His fingers are hot on Eddie’s skin, pressed light and shockingly reverent to the space between his hip and rib cage.
“You’re ok,” he repeats. It sounds like he’s trying to convince himself.
“Hey,” Eddie says. It comes out more breathless than he’d prefer but Steve fucking Harrington has him backed against a wall in a bathroom with his hands up Eddie’s shirt so he thinks a little lack of air is warranted. “Are you ok?”
The fingers on his abdomen flex. "No,” Steve says. His eyes are wide and fathomless and the look on his face is terrible. “No, I’m not even remotely ok.”

Poor Steve! He's really doing through it in this one... Also Eddie just trying to figure out what the fuck is going on. They're all great, I'm always a sucker for Eddie's other relationships, with Wayne and the band and this fic really does them justice. Same with the balance of Steves assertiveness/trauma/bitchiness/love. It's all there and it works so well.
Also appreciate that the story got to go on after the climax. Emotional resolution > action, any day of the week! -

Summary
June 1986
Steve is lonely. He’s always been lonely, honestly. An empty house, absent parents, friends that didn’t really know him. Frankly, he probably doesn’t really know himself, either. It used to be easier to ignore—between sports and parties and searching for the next girl to hang around with.
Then Nancy Wheeler told him he was bullshit. In the wreckage of the storm, he realized she probably hadn’t been that off base to call his life bullshit.
[Life in Hawkins, Indiana is boring, ordinary, no supernatural entities. Steve still changes.
Luckily, he still makes some new friends, too. Certain people are simply meant to be in the same story.]

It's so simple, but so well done!
The balance between the different relationships is just right and it's surprisingly moving to see that it doesn't need the upside down trauma to get these people to work out. -

Summary
Steve and Robin get a two bedroom in Hawkins. It's perfect, except for all the ways it isn't. Drafty windows, clogged drains, shitty landlord. But it's got a couch. A couch that's often occupied by Eddie Munson. Home isn't really the kind of thing Eddie has much of anymore, ever since his trailer became the primary source for all his nightmares. Luckily, he knows of a semi-comfortable couch where he's always welcome.
Despite all it's problem, the house has perks. Primarily, it's somewhere Steve can actually call home. Secondarily, it's somewhere he can share with the people he loves.
AKA: The fruity four live in a convoluted roommate situation, and romance happens along the way.

“Uh, you okay?”
Chrissy jerks under the sink, head banging against the porcelain hard enough to rattle her skull.
Eddie Munson stands in the doorway, hands tucked in his armpits like he isn’t sure what to do with them. He stares at her for maybe half a second before his gaze darts to the graffitied wall.
Chrissy gapes up at him, his frame mostly a blur of shaggy hair and denim, before reality hits her and she scrambles out from under the sink, knees shaky and locked up from being tucked under for so long. “What are you doing in the girl’s bathroom?” She demands, swiping at her face like he hasn’t already seen her in what is quite possibly the lowest moment of her life.
Hey, at least it wasn’t with her fingers down her throat.
Eddie rocks on his feet, still avoiding her gaze, “I don’t have a good answer for that seeing as how this is the men’s bathroom.”
Chrissy feels the urge to gag again.
Something in the corner catches her eye.
A fucking urinal.

It was definitely dog-like. Huge, furry, it had a snout like a wolf and paws but… like a mix between hands and paws, the pads on its fingers rough to the touch contrasting the impossibly soft texture of its fur covering its knuckles, its claws weren’t sharp, they were dulled, filed, and rounded off like a dog that’d been on many a walk on nothing but pavement, Eddie didn’t want to say werewolf but…

Summary
A spatula from the cup of utensils next to the stove floats into the air, hangs there a second, and then smacks him directly on the forehead.
“Ow! Fuck, okay. I guess that’s a yes. Are you haunting my house or me specifically?” Him, it’s definitely him, but it doesn’t hurt to have confirmation.
The spatula waggles in his direction, and then smacks him in the head again.
“Fuck! You can tell me things without violence, you know!” The cold feeling he associates with it (her) goes through him again, and it feels like laughter. “Are you…is it…is it Barb? Are you Barb?”
There’s a long moment of silence—or, well, it’s all been silence, but a long moment in which nothing happens—and then the spatula goes hurtling through the air like it’s being thrown and smacks him in the eye, before falling to the ground.

This is such a well-balanced time travel fic, having Steve not be all knowing from the get go, but being at the whim of subconscious bunches and fragments of memories makes for a more compelling story and takes (a little bit) away from the yikes power dynamics of time travel relationships.
The characters are also really well done, but I'm still waiting on s2 Dustin&steve, I hope there's still space for that even with the sped up plot -

Summary
Eddie Munson died on March 27th, 1986.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
No, wait. That’s not right. That’s Hitchhiker's Guide. Or was it Restaurant at the End of the Universe? Whatever, not important.
Eddie Munson died on March 27th, 1986.
Except…he didn’t. He couldn’t have. Because Eddie Munson is currently arguing with himself in his fucking head about sci-fi quotes, which doesn’t feel especially like something that a dead person would have the capacity to do.
The bats had killed him. There had been pain, and the sick sensation of tearing flesh. He’d had to swallow past a mouthful of his own blood to tell Henderson he loved him. Surely those were symptoms of imminent death.
And yet.
On April 1st, 1986, Eddie Munson opens his eyes in a dim hospital room. There’s a gasp from his left, and he tries to turn his head towards the source.
“Easy there, kid. They’ve got you trussed up pretty good.”
Eddie doesn’t need to see him. He’d know that voice anywhere, in any universe, hell dimension or otherwise.
“Uncle Wayne?”

And here I was thinking I already had all the Wayne, Eddie, Steve found family goodness I could hope for. How wrong I was! This right here is everything. I can't even say what I like better: the pre- or post-canon, they're both so precious in their own way.
The showdown at the end was a little over the top, especially with how organic and well-balanced the rest was, but why the hell not?! A little wishfulfillment never hurt anyone :P -

Eddie sticks his head out the window, tongue hanging out like a dog. Steve’s hand leaves the wheel to yank him back into the car, and Eddie just cackles, howling at the moon in the pale evening sky, before letting himself be rescued. Not from certain death this time, just the high chance of bug swallowing.
“You’re a maniac,” Steve says, and it should be disgusting, the fondness dripping from his voice. But seven years is a long time, and Steve’s sappiness has yet to make him sick. In fact, he thinks he might have been infected by it. Turned into a big old sap himself.

"I usually end up driving 'round town for a few hours. It clears my head. Makes me feel better." Steve huffed an embarrassed laugh. "Sometimes I drive past everyone's houses, just to see… I dunno. Eddie blinked several times. "You drive past my place?" He was weirdly touched. He couldn't even find it in himself to make a stupid joke about it.

Driving at night is such a mood, love it irl, love it here.
They also really got the type of affection that fits those two right. The snark, the being there for each other without addressing it head on and just the right sprinkling of acutal vulnerability. It's all love, it may not always be the most direct way, but it's the right way for them and I love that this story managed to strike that balance. -

"'M I bein' kidnapped?" asked Harrington.
"What," said Sam, alarmed, "No!"
"Okay," said Harrington with terrifying agreeability, considering the words he was saying, "But like. If you were? It's cool, I've been kidnapped before."
"Wh—"
"It was, uh. A bunch of twelve-year-olds," said Harrington, sounding strangely pensive. Then, sadly, "They stole B'lly's car."
Sam actually could not process anything being said right then. He started the car."Hey, Harrington?" he said, voice strained.
"Yeah?"
"Let's stop talking for a while, yeah?"
"'Kay."
Or, in November 1984, Sam Green (or Freak, if he's at a gig) sees Steve Harrington stumbling home looking like roadkill. He drives him to the hospital, and never quite manages to get rid of him.
