Summary
I couldn't sleep and read MrsLiveYourLife 's Husband!verse. In the second chapter of part two (The World-Building behind my A/B/O fic "How to Catch a Husband") she(?) said that she(?) couldn't get the science to add up when trying to add in the X- and Y-chromosomes. Since I couldn't sleep I decided to try and see if I could fix it.

Arthur looks up, his knees digging fervent and hard into the stone, bullets of pain crackling up his thighs. Merlin looks down - impossibly, immeasurably sad. Tears drip from his chin and splash on Arthur's cheeks, but he cannot ignore the way they run past a mouth curled in contempt, in hatred. Their gentleness has, like fruit on a hot day or flowers forgotten about, rotted. There is nothing left now but their battle of fury, their back and forth of violence. Arthur remembers, a long, long time ago, that Morgana told him love and hate were not all that different. Now, he thinks he finally understands.

Now, all he has to do is find Emrys - his prophesized magical partner, navigate becoming the Crown Prince of Camelot and his father's hatred of all things magic, and survive the frankly insane amount of attacks against him by angry sorcerers. If only his idiot manservant could be on time to work for once.

Summary
Merlin has been alive for a very long time.
He is not losing it... But he is on a very meditative journey to become one with a blade of grass when he suddenly wakes up in the sixth century, surrounded by friends he only sort of remembers and a king who isn't a king yet.
In other words: My version of a Merlin travels back fix it fic starting in the missing year between seasons 3 and 4.
