A lopsided smile stretched the duke’s lips as he stopped in front of Neuvillette’s desk. He crossed his arms over his chest and said; “Yes, actually. You can put down the paperwork and come celebrate with me the start of the holidays.”
Neuvillette was left speechless by Wriothesley’s words, which was not an easy feat.
Eventually, a small frown creased his forehead. “While I appreciate the offer, Your Grace, I still have work to do.” Neuvillette gestured to the pile of paperwork on his desk.

Neuvillette regarded him for a moment, a fond smile on his face, then moved to lay down beside him. Their thighs and shoulders brushed, and he laid his head down in the grass beside Wriothesley's, the fur collar of his coat tickling their necks as they stared up at the gently waving boughs of the tree, the leaves rustling in the wind.

Summary
Neuvillette has been acting strangely.
Of course, it is perfectly understandable given the recent events. The entire nation has been upended by the prophecy, and Neuvillette has been at the center of it all. With no Archon to rule Fontaine, the responsibility has been left entirely up to the Iudex. That’s not to say that Wriothesley himself isn’t busy either, no, of course not. He’s been swamped for weeks since that fateful day, and both of them have barely found time to see each other.
The short amount of time they do get together however, Neuvillette just seems off. Not the ‘I’m so stressed out and overworked’ kind of off, it’s something more… intimate.

An encounter with some children near the Opera house, watching the Duke interact with them made Neuvillette look back to the past when he met the Child Wriothesley all those years ago, recalling their conversation that rainy day after the trial, some introspections, and Wriothesley's ideals. He finally understood.

If you did Wriothesley's SQ, you know how firm his grasp on human psychology and understanding is. His mind game and play with psychology is really interesting. I'm inclined to believe he was also exceptionally observant and intuitive as a child, he probably also read a lot of books that helped him develop insights on many philosophical themes.
