It never got better. It never did. But for whatever reason, having Sebastian beside you makes the suffering a lot more bearable.

Summary
Sebastian doesn't appreciate you, he just tolerates you, but seeing you cry because he yelled at you makes him feel... bad. It's ironic that his last name is Solace and he doesn't know how to comfort anyone, but at least he's trying.
