If he's going to turn over the hat, Madara will have to meet him, and while they know the Uchiha have a thing about red eyes, Hashirama doesn't know what it is. Madara refuses to explain. So what will he do to a Senju who has red eyes? Hashirama has hope, and Tobirama is ready to put his faith in his brother. He's just not so sure about Madara.
