The Omnitrix was made so that You could walk a mile in another's shoes. to store genetic information so that if a species went extinct, they could be brought back.
The Ultimatrix works by putting a Species' DNA through a simulation. this simulation is a Worst-Case Scenario that lasts for around a million years in order to force a combat and survival based evolution on the species. From the apocalypses, unending war, Nightmarish predators, and even worse. This is what the Ultimatrix puts those species through, all to get a single member of that species.
But those members are alive. not just alive, but with sapience and memories.
