    There are three versions of Phayu. He hates that there are three, and not only two. Two he likes, because it makes sense, but not three. There was a version of him Before Rain, a different him During Rain and then now, worst of all, After Rain.

    Intellectually Phayu had always known there was a possibility of living after Rain, but that was always a hypothetical and way in the distant future. They were supposed to have had years, decades, together and die of old age. Preferably Phayu before Rain, but Phayu had conceded that it would hurt Rain to lose him as much as losing Rain would hurt him, so they had both agreed that it would be awful either way.

    In the end, Phayu hadn’t had a choice.
