At 16 years old Damien decided to leave home. His father and his brothers hated him and he wasn't doing any good or being any better than how he was raised. He had no one that understood the pressure he felt, the good and evil at war inside of him. So at 16 he decided to leave. He went to the one place he knew they would never find him. With the city ban on any heroes, he knew no one would look for him in Paris.
At 16 years old, Marinette took the ring from Adrien. He had become more of a hindrance than a help and they were making absolutely no progress on the Hawkmoth situation. Marinette needed a partner, not a boyfriend. A year later she had both.
Seven years later, Hawkmoth is defeated.
