Akira shifts beside him, as if he’s about to say something. He opens his mouth, slightly, the way that means he’s about to speak in the soft voice he uses to comfort friends, or strangers, or dogs: full of selfish pity, and lacking all the roughness that makes a statement true. He’s about to make a decision so nonsensical it can only be described as insane, and why? Because he doesn’t have the guts to face the truth? Because he's a fucking idiot. He’s an idiot about to make an idiotic choice brought up by an idiotic man.
Goro knew this instantly. He won’t let it happen.
