He squinted into the distance and saw the bright lights of the safety car ahead, already gathering the lapped cars behind it. As he approached the scene of the accident, his stomach knotted. The mangled wreck of a car caught his attention immediately—Checo's car. But the damage was more widespread than he had anticipated. Further ahead, the unmistakable red Ferrari was lodged into the barriers, and even from a distance, Max could see it had flipped over. His heart sank, a pit of dread opening in his chest.
