She should have noticed.
The bruise is fresh. He flinches when she touches it. Diana has been with Billy almost every hour of every day since she set foot in Hawkins. She should recognize this bruise. This hand. But she doesn’t.
It’s dark. Purple and black and a bit blue around the edges. She knows it hurts. She tilts her head to the side. Spreads her hand wide next to it, over Billy’s chest.
“Four,” she decides. He just stares up at her. He’s breathing hard. Harder than he was a minute ago. “They hit you four times.”
Diana wishes she had the vocabulary for what flashes through Billy’s eyes. She doesn’t know it’s name but she recognizes it. Has felt it. Something dark and desperate.
This wasn’t a normal fight. Billy wouldn’t look like this if it was. She’s seen Billy fight and he didn’t seem sorry then. He seems sorry now. She recognizes that look. It’s the same one she wore when Eleven would look at her bruises.
Diana comes to Hawkins in search of her sister. She finds more than she could have ever hoped for.

Leslie Mayfield had everything a 17 year old girl could hope for. She was the most popular girl at school. All the boys wanted her. None of those boys mattered to her because she had the best boyfriend she could ask for. Leslie's perfect man was none other than Billy Hargrove, not that anyone knew that. They had to keep their relationship a secret from their parents.
They where together for almost six months when one surprising dinner at an Italian restaurant. They sat across from each other pretending like they were only school friends their parents told them they were getting married. That one day soon the two would be siblings.
Their worlds came crashing down, and they responded to the news in different ways. Leslie became withdrawn and depressed. Her personality changed entirely from the girl next door with straight A's to a recluse who spent more time cutting class then attending.
Billy, on the other hand, became angrier by the day. Having to see her everywhere but not being able to have her drove him mad. He became a player trying to find a girl who could make him forget her. It never worked neither did the drinking. As time went on the two of them became whom they hated the most, their parents.Series
