    It’s easy to say you’d see the signs. Tim thought he was observant enough. If he had to, he could tell if something was wrong with his friends. But the problem with Kon was that something was always wrong.

    He’d gotten better at hiding it over the years, but Kon struggled with many things. There was always some reason he wasn’t good enough or some impossible standard he couldn’t reach. No matter what, Kon just wasn’t good enough Kon never really grew up like the rest of them. Sure, he brandished a perfect smile and appeared easygoing, but Tim knew of the dark thoughts lingering just below the surface.

    Clark’s trench slips from his fingers, a brown puddle on the floor, and he stares emptily, almost listlessly at the flowers.

    It’s a lovely flower arrangement, six sunflowers with a few red and white carnations breaking up the solid yellow of the arrangement, and a few baby’s breath branches speckled throughout. It’s a very delicate looking arrangement.

    or; Clark's trying to figure out how to deal with someone's excessive interest in him. Tim just wants him to understand.

    They pull away. “I don’t think you’ve ever hugged me before,” Kon says.

    Clark winces, and then the smile feels wiped clean off of his face, “Look, I’m -”

    “No, don’t, it’s okay now, right?” Kon asks, and his hands are on Clark’s biceps. His touch feels like an inferno and Clark’s innards feel like a mismatch and an utter clusterfuck.

    “Of course!” Clark says, perhaps a bit too enthusiastically, and Kon gives a half-smile, and then he disappears through the front door and Clark kind of wants the floor to open up and swallow him whole.

    or; Clark's pregnancy did a few things for on, and Clark's still trying to sort out how he feels about everything - but they're getting there.
