"Duh!" Ino crosses her arms, chin up in the air. "But we have to, Shika! I don’t want to be unprepared for when—"
"I know, I know. Sasuke." He interrupts her, suddenly rethinking the whole thing. He’s still got time to make a run for it. He glances around for possible escape routes and sighs. Too troublesome. And, if he’s honest, some small part of him doesn’t want to run away, not when Ino is so close, smells like flowers, and her lips—he notices for the first time—are so pink and soft.
"It’s just practice!" she says assertively, hands on her hips. "Besides, with you, it doesn’t count."

Summary
Ino"s beauty was just a fact to Shikamaru and Chouji. It made no difference that she had thick eyelashes and a perfect arch at her cupid"s bow. Ino was bossy, loud, mean-spirited, and a sore loser before she was Inoichi"s stunning daughter. When that started to matter, Chouji remained immune. Shikamaru however…well after repeatedly getting his feelings hurt by her indifference towards his changing body he had to get over it.

Naruto is assigned as his would-be-jailor. They attempt to navigate what remains of their fractured relationship - as their adventure escalates, the situation around them reaches a climax in which the ultimate sacrifice must be made in order to rectify Sasuke’s mistake. A mistake which has world altering consequences.

Summary
Justice strikes like a snake. Those who are missing shall always return and those who seek vengeance may lose everything to the fire.
Or the one where Izumo and Kotetsu are maybe, kind of dating, Shikamaru is trying desperately to ignore his feelings for Ino and focus on what is expected of him and a face from the past comes hurtling back into the lives of the leaf Jounin in an unexpected way.
