Summary
When a major volcanic eruption coats the Earth in a strange substance known as ‘Catalyst’, every living thing begins to change in alarming ways. From toxic plants that snatch birds from the air, to bioluminescent snakes slithering through the marsh, the surface is left almost completely unrecognisable.
Hundreds of years later, a young biologist named Phylum Aberro is sent up to the surface to investigate Catalyst and help humanity reclaim their world without succumbing to its disturbing effects. With a lifetime of training and study behind him, this is the opportunity he’s been waiting for.
His course is clear. That is until he finds himself being followed by a vibrant girl exhibiting animalistic traits and remarkable abilities. Contrary to everything he’s been taught, she appears to be just as human as him, if not more. Amazed by one another, they quickly realise they share a profound love of wildlife and exploration, finding company in the most unlikely of places.
But two questions remain:
Is the Catalyst truly something to be feared? And why is this the first time anyone has thought to check?
