Summary
Lieutenant Colonel Albert James Moriarty, 6th Earl Moriarty, was not at all what Mycroft had envisioned. He wasn’t sure what he had expected, to be fair, but the Byronic hero with emerald eyes who had just sauntered out of his office after striking one of the strangest, most ambitious deals he’d ever heard, was not it. And to make matters worse, Mycroft had accepted. How could one man possibly take down the latest opium distribution, the mafia that ran it, expose the two Dukes at the centre of the distribution, and provide funding for a clandestine branch of the Military Intelligence, all in one go?
Or, the Director has a mission for his M, Albert has a chip on his shoulder about...a lot of things, if he's honest, and the world, unfortunately, is not willing to stop whilst they figure things out.

No one really knew how Ghosts were formed. There were all kinds of theories about them, ranging from anti-matter to blackholes to the embodiment of a supernova to an ancient alien race. No one could be sure, because Ghosts were almost impossible to study. Usually amorphous and barely visible outside the depths of deepspace, they tended to avoid both stars and planets. Hua Cheng was one of the four known Calamities, Ghosts who were visible and tangible and had a…rather catastrophic effect on matter of all kinds. But only when he chose to, as it turns out, because he seemed perfectly at ease here on board a regular old ship, leaning over Xie Lian’s shoulder with a serious look on his face. Especially now, in his San Lang shape, he did not look like a being capable of killing stars.
