Summary
The question of where gifts come from is a complete mystery. The gifted could certainly never answer such a question since there was no recollection of the beginning. It seems strange though it is presented that a gift was a sort of mutation in the individual that has one. Unaware that there is a reason that these abilities are labelled as 'gifts'. A hidden history that no one had ever thought of existing is waiting in hiding, apparently it is all in a single book. But there are things that will strive to keep the book hidden, no matter the cost.
(This follows the plot of BSD up to the point of season 3 with a touch of extras added in then will formulate into a new path after)

Summary
About two hundred years ago, difficult circumstances led Xianzhou to sign a deal with borisin. Agreements were made between the two parties — wars stopped, trading began, rules set. It was expected to go horrifically, and yet somehow the alliance still stood strong.
The time that passed is not yet nearly enough to wash away millenia of shed blood. As a foxian, Jiaoqiu knows the tragic stories better than anyone else. He is definitely not going against his ancestors' warnings with his actions. Jiaoqiu is totally not bedding a borisin...Or: a foxian gets intimate with his dubious choice of a partner and that leads to many consequences.

Summary
Tartaglia was in good morale. The Captain was someone he had idiolized since his childhood, and now he finally had the opportunity to accompany him in what would be their most important mission so far: retrieve the Pyro Gnosis and complete the first major step of their Tsaritsa's Grand Plan.
They would only realize too late what a disastrous arrangement that was. Capitano's lingering presence caused Tartaglia's first heat, at the worst time possible. At a time of War.
Still, they both do what they do best, as Survivors of the Abyss: they adapt.
