Slade clicks his tongue, unsure of when he picked up the habit — from Talia, he's sure, but when? — and grips the steering wheel harder. His other hand taps the stick impatiently.
He knows, objectively, that the kid is projecting. That fact means nothing when Jason is still right. Slade has a habit of looking for the past in things — in people that don't belong to it. It was one of the many things Adeline hated about him.
"Are you sure I'm the one who needs to be told that here, Renegade?"
Or, Jason has a habit of looking for love in men who only know war. Slade Wilson is not an exception.

Summary
There’s only one bed in the bunker. Jason must sleep on the floor. Most of the clothes in the shared wardrobe are children-sized, Jason having maybe five shirts and three pairs of pants outside of his costume. All the pens have little animal prints and all the pens are glitter gels. Dick wonders if the Red Hood signs his documents in sparkly pink.
Or, Dick finds Sasha after the events of Batman & Robin and tries to give her a better life.

Summary
Except now he was standing in the kitchen of a shitty safehouse that doesn’t even have a heater, making himself instant coffee and drowning in five layers of clothing because Gotham winter is mean, and he can’t stop thinking about it. He liked being compared to Helga. Who wouldn’t? He just didn’t know why it was affecting him like this. Jason didn’t like not knowing things, call it bat-induced paranoia.
So, as any sane and normal person, such as himself, would, he turned his phone back on, ignored all the notifications from Dick trying to annoy him into talking to each other and Roy and Artemis arguing about archery on the Outlaws group chat (named Red Hood’s side hoes, thirst emoji for emphasis, for some fucking reason), and watched the goddamn Atlantis movie again. Three times in a row. Because, you know, he’s normal.
Or, the one where Calliope Todd figures out her identity, Roy Harper gets a girlfriend, and Tim Drake earns his favorite sibling award. Not necessarily in that order.

Summary
A series dedicated to my favorite Robin!Jason characterization, aka fucked-up-and-neglected. Bad Parent Bruce Wayne is going to be a staple here. It's not my goal in this series to write any character exactly as they are in canon, but I will incorporate as many canon situations as I can. Little-to-no fluff.
The fics are loosely connected in the same universe but can all be read as one-shots. The series is not in the order that the situations happen, only in the order they were posted in.

Summary
Slade opens the door to find Jason passed out on his doorstep. He isn't wearing his usual tactical armor, just a pair of rumpled black trousers and a cheap polyester button-down shirt of the sort that waiters don at catering events. When Slade moves to hook his hands under Jason's arms to drag him inside, he finds that Jason’s shirt is unbuttoned and there's a livid trail of small bruises decorating his neck and chest.
Not bruises. Bites.
Livid is an apt word. Because that's exactly what the flash of red that suddenly clouds his vision must mean.

Summary
"Let it be known that I completely detest the implications of what this situation is mirroring," Red Hood grumbles to himself and it's the longest string of words Duke has heard from any so-called Gotham vigilante, let alone the one who's known for shooting more than he is talking.
"The fuck?" Duke mutters, because if he's already going to die, he might as well try and make sense of it.
"I'm not going to care about whatever sob story you have," is what Red Hood replies with instead of explaining, "Where are your parents?"
"Gone," is all Duke says, because it's really none of this guy's business. It's also the truth.
Somehow, Red Hood sounds even more anguished about this information than Duke is, "Ah shit."
(Duke steals the tires off Red Hood's bike and somehow gains a family.)
