It must have been the compulsora.
That was the only explanation.
Sure, they had taken precautions. The vial had never been touched. The windows in the pink bedroom stayed open no matter what, and they were careful not to even bump the desk the vials rested on. Chances of contamination were slim to none, but Hermione could think of no other reason for her temporary loss of control.
Okay so maybe she hadn’t even gone into the pink bedroom that day, but still. It was definitely the compulsora.
Because Hermione had never even considered doing something like this before. She was not someone who would knock off work even an hour or two early for happy hour, much less be the one to suggest leaving when it was barely lunch time.
To fuck.

It’s been five years of muted agony. He’s not sure he can do six, and so the words are out before he can rationalize it.
“Happy anniversary.”
She’s halfway down the hall but pauses instantly, looking over her shoulder at him. He can’t interpret her expression, not with the way his head is pounding with a sudden rush of blood at his daring, and at the way her entire body has turned to face him.
He barely restrains himself from sweeping his gaze down her form, something he does frequently whenever her attention is elsewhere. They haven’t had sex since Lyra’s conception was confirmed – two years, eight months, thirteen days – but he comes for her all the time.
“I didn’t think you’d remember.” There’s a tinge of wonder in her voice.
He manages to keep the incredulity out of his. “Of course I did.”
