“Am I making a good impression?” Legato couldn’t help but ask, and he swears the corner of Knives’ mouth curled up into a small smile.
“You’ll know if you did if I choose to hire you,” The man told him.
A good impression.
A week later, Legato thinks that must have been a yes.
“That’s why we keep hiring all these assistants though, right?” Nai asks, “To lower our workloads, or whatever,”
“I keep making you get assistants,” Vash says, nudging Nai’s leg with his foot, “Because every time I go away for more than a day for work you blow up my phone with calls complaining about how much you miss me and are so lonely and ooh vashhhhu~ I can’t live without youuuuu please come ho- Ahk!” Vash yips his teasing cut off as his food is dropped back to the table and, without warning, he’s tugged right off the desk and falls gracelessly into his brother’s lap.
“So Legato wouldn’t have to be here, looking at you weird and typing silently if you stopped leaving me all alone and stayed right here,” Nai says, gripping Vash’s hips and pulling him close.

Summary
Knives spent his last moments on Noman's Land with no regrets. Sure, he regretted some of the methods he used in his attempt to eradicate the human race and to convince Vash face the truth, but he didn't regret what he did. Using the last of his powers to gift an apple tree, Knives was ready for the calming embrace of death. What he wasn't ready for, however, was being abruptly woken up by Vash 150 years ago on SEEDS ship number 5. On the very day he crashed the ships.
Knives is given another chance relive his final day with Vash and Rem aboard the spaceship. He plans to not make the same mistakes in this life as he did the second. He knows exactly how this day will begin and how it will end, but what he doesn't account for is another presence on the ship with them.
