    "Yes," says Seven. He looks right at Richard's green eyes, even if it itches. "I want to stay here. You want me to stay here."

    "We do want you to stay here," Richard agrees, easily. His mind is easy, Seven thinks. He'd gotten a pudding cup as a reward once. He thinks Richard and Elaine are like a pudding cup. Soft and sweet and easy to spoon out, to eat and swallow.

    "I've always wanted a son," Elaine murmurs.

    "You've always wanted a son," Seven echoes, looking at Elaine. "I can be a son."

    Or, six times that the boy who calls himself Steve Harrington feels real, and one time he realizes that he isn't.
